A critical essay analyses strong and weak points of someone else’s work. It does not require you to label the work as “bad”; you may also choose to offer a positive critical analysis as well.
Parts of critical essay
Thesis statement -> analysis -> argument -> conclusion
Thesis statement should be a sentence or two reflecting point of view regarding the work.
Analysis: Divide a subject into its parts and show the relations between the parts and the whole.
Argument: stick to a position, recognize support and opposition, and finish by interpreting the importance of this evidence in relation to your point of view.
